The concept of collective responsibility is one that originated in early civilization, when it was realized that the ‘pooling’ of limited resources does infarct yield greater benefits for an entire community. It is this type ‘co-operative’ ideology which is at the core of the Team Initiative program.
What is the Team Initiative?
The Team Initiative is a Program managed by the Guild of Students, which provides all registered students with ‘year-long’ access to recreational sporting facilities and training in: Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Swimming, Aerobics, Karate and Gym Training. All registered students pay a small sum of $500 in their miscellaneous fee towards this venture, and this entitles them to access all Team Initiative Services.
Swim classes cater for beginner and intermediate students and are held from Monday to Saturdays. Students are asked to sign up for two one (1) hour classes at a time that best fits into their schedules. Classes will be held at the swimming pool which is located at the Mona Bowl.
Students will receive lessons from professional instructors and trained student assistants. Classes are held on weekdays, (i.e. Monday to Friday) and cater for beginner and intermediate students. It is advised that students sign up for any two (2) one hour class which best fits into your schedule. A racquet will be provided for all students who are not in possession of one. Table Tennis classes will be held in the Multi-purpose room at the students’ union, while Lawn Tennis Classes are held on the tennis courts at the Mona Bowl

These classes are designed for beginner, intermediate and advanced level students, and consist of five (5) levels (i.e. Blue to Black belts). The course duration for beginners is three (3) months. At the end of each course and exam is administrated to facilitate your transition to the next level. Students are asked to sign up for two (2) one hour classes per week. Classes are held in the Multi-purpose room at the students union.
Karate: Times still to be confirmed
These dynamic work-out sessions are primarily aimed at the female population and held in the Multi-purpose room at the students’ union. Classes are held three (3) times per day on weekdays (i.e. 6 am, 5 pm and 6 pm).
Aerobics Times
• Mondays: 6am-7am, 5pm-6pm and 6pm-7pm
• Tuesdays: 6am-7am, 5pm-6pm and 6pm-7pm

All registered students will receive full membership to the weights room. A professional instructor and trained student assistants will be there to assist you at all times. All members will be required to show their school I.D. card at each visit, and sign in and out on the attendance register. Students will be asked to limit their workout sessions to two (2) hours. Please consult a medical practitioner before starting the gym program.
