The Guild PRO, according to the UWI Mona Guild constitution, has the job of;

    a. seeing to all matters relating to the Public Relations of the Guild of Students


    b. chairing the Public Relations Committee

    c. the construction and putting up of posters, flyers, notices and all information
    paraphernalia (miscellaneous articles) that is geared at transmitting information from the Guild
    Council to the Guild of Students.

    d. seeking to ensure special broadcasting facilities in national media. This includes publicizing by the
    utilization of the electronic media (by television, by radio, by cell phones, by internet etc), the print
    media (all national newspapers, magazines, newsletters etc), all the official Guild Publications,
    University Campus Publications, any other forms of publications [local and overseas], and all other
    ways and means by which the Public Relations of the Guild of Students’ will be carried out effectively.

    e. being responsible for maintaining effective communication between the Guild Council and the Guild
    of Students

    f. Be responsible for the maintenance of the Guild Website.

Now it is really important to have a council for the Guild of students and even more important that the Guild of students know the function of the Guild Council, the councillors and their purpose.

The function of the guild council is to represent the student body. The Guild of Students criticizes the Guild council for doing little work and this is simply because the Guild of students does not know what the Guild council is doing.
This year I plan to make the Guild Council more visible. This website is one such initiative, Campus Beat Live is another. The PRO committee this year aims to give you access to the Guild, give you a place to find information about student initiatives and a forum to voice you grievances.

The Public Relations Committee consists of FIVE teams.

Hall PROs
(sit on Hall Committees)

Faculty PROs
(sit on faculty committees)

Information Team
(sits on another executive and commuting students committee and collects information to be published to students)

Public Relations Team
(deals with administration and the media)

Media and Communication Team
Consists of a Campus Beat Live Production Team and Persons who work with the PCC to cover events on campus.
